Overall schedule of Japan professional baseball
Japanese professional baseball 2024 started the preseason games in February, and currently the regular season is going on. In this post I would share the 2024 schedule of the post-season / playoff games.
Also, one more attention is on the battle to win the 2nd place.
As explained below, the 2nd place teams will host the 1st round of the Climax series, so in order to win that round, the difference of 2nd place and 3rd place is significant.

There are 3 rounds after the regular season,
The Climax series, 1st round
The Climax series, Final round
The Japan series
Here is the overview as of Nov/4, after the series, Yokohama DeNA Baystars became the champion of 2024!
What's the rule of Japan baseball post-season, "The Climax series"?
"The Climax Series" is held for each league, Pacific league and Central league.
Top 3 teams of the regular season will be qualified for the Climax Series, and there are two rounds during "the Climax series".
1) First stage, between 2nd place team vs 3rd place team
✔ The games will be held on Oct/12, 13, and 14
✔︎ Out of max 3 games, the team who had 2 will be qualified for final stage (Game 3 might be canceled when one of the teams got 2 wins before the game 3)
✔︎ The games will be held at the home stadium of 2nd place team
2) Final stage, between 1st place team vs (the team qualified from the first stage)
✔ The games will be held everyday during Oct/16~21
✔︎ The 1st place team will automatically have 1 win from the beginning as an advantage
✔︎ Out of max 6 games, the team who had 4 will be qualified for the Japan Series (Game 5 and 6 might be canceled when one of the teams got 4 wins before those games)
✔︎ The games will be held at the home stadium of 1st place team
What's the rule of "The Japan series"?
Finally the championship games, "The Japan Series" will be done by the winners of the Climax Series.
3) The Japan Series, between the winners of Climax Series
✔︎ The champion (who won the Climax Series) of Central league vs Pacific league will play
✔︎ Out of max 7 games, the team who had 4 will be the champion of Japan professional baseball 2023 (Game 5, 6, and 7 might be canceled when one of the teams got 4 wins before those games)
✔︎ The games will be held at the home stadium of each team. This year, it will be,
・Game1 & 2 (Oct/26 & 27) → At the home stadium of Central league
・Game3, 4 & 5 (Oct/29, 30 and 31) → At the home stadium of Pacific league
・Game6 & 7 (Nov/2 & 3) → At the home stadium of Central league

When do the ticket sales start for post-season?
If you are around in Japan during that period, watching the post-season baseball will definitely be a unique and memorable experience!
But as you can imagine, securing tickets for Climax series and the Japan series are very challenging even for the local Japanese people. So honestly, the chance of securing tickets will be very limited. Also the resale ticket prices tend to be very high. I would say It'll be a great experience to watch the game at a local bar together with Japanese fans. If you're really keen to attend the game at the stadium, please let us know.
